Hallowe'en Story by Bubbles

It was Hallowe'en night, some years back, and there were a group of Beavers gathered together. They'd decided they would trick-or-treat together. One was dressed up as Spider-Man, another was a Ninja, there was also a pirate and a clown.

They started at one end of a block and went up to the house.

"Trick or treat!" they all called. From that house, they got two lollipops apiece. Not bad.

As they were moving to the next house, they came on a sobbing boy dressed up as a Pokemon.

The Beavers, being good samaritans as they are, asked the boy what the problem was.

"It's the house! Three houses down. He gave me so many chocolate bars but his mask was just so scary! WAAAH!"

So the beavers were scared by the looked at the size of the bag the boy had been carrying and there were a lot of chocolate bars in there. I mean, that kid had a hard time carrying it, it was so full of chocolate bars. So they decided to keep going.

At the next house, they each got a pack of rockets, a lollipop and a pack of lifesavers. Pretty nice. But they all had chocolate bars dancing in their heads.

As they went down the sidewalk, they came across a little girl dressed up like a genie. She was crying, too.

"What's the matter?" one of the Beavers asked.

"It was just so horrible. Two houses down. He was so scary. He gave me so many chocolate bars but it was just HORRIBLE!!! WAAAAAH!" And the little genie started running down the street, sobbing.

The Beavers were really scared now. They wanted those chocolate bars but was it worth it if this guy was really as scary as they had heard? They would do it. They were Beavers and they weren't scared of anything... they hoped.

The next house had bubble gum and some change for the Unicef boxes. And as they walked down the sidewalk, they were nearly run over by a little boy dressed like a dragon. As he pushed past them, all they could hear was him yelling "CHOCOLATE! SCARY! AAAAH!!!" And so they were really nervous as they walked up to the house they had been told to fear.

Light framed the tall figure who stepped into the doorway as he reached into a large bag to start handing out chocolate bars.

The Beavers were all shaking, they were so scared. Finally, the light fell on the hideous face and one of the Beavers almost screamed before the person before them was truly revealed.

"Hawkeye!" and he wasn't even wearing a mask. No wonder those other kids were so scared.

The end!

Beaver'sHalloween Party

Beavers is about having fun at the pond. This year's 24th Parkallen Beaver's Halloween Party was all about having fun.

The beavers carved the most scary jack-o-lanterns in preparation for the annual Bubbles haunted Halloween story. Those lanterns were real scary when we lit the candles and shut off all the lights.

After a few games of capture the ghost and eating mini-donuts with no hands we ended the night with a Halloween classic of bobbing for apples. Below is an artist rendition of when Bubbles demonstrates to the beavers how to bob for apples.

Beavers Field Trip

The Parkallen Beavers visited the John Janzen Nature center this week. We participated in a super sleuth hike to see what animals were doing to get ready for winter. Studied birds that are common to the Edmonton area and got to pet a snake and a salamander.

In the end the Beavers had a lot of fun.
